Install or update the Sneat.app CLI

These are the official instructions for an AI agent operating on a user’s machine.

Safety and authorization

  1. Detect the operating system and architecture.
  2. Check whether sneat is already available. If it is, record sneat --version and sneat --help before changing anything.
  3. Ask the user to authorize one applicable choice:
    • Homebrew — macOS only; install with brew install --cask sneat-co/tap/sneat, or update an existing cask with brew upgrade --cask sneat-co/tap/sneat.
    • Direct official installer — install, update, or reinstall from the latest checksum-verified GitHub release using the platform command below.
    • Abort — make no changes.
  4. Do not require or install Go. Do not build the CLI from source as a fallback.
  5. Do not uninstall an existing CLI before authorization. The direct installer verifies the downloaded release before atomically replacing the executable.

If the requested method cannot work on this machine, explain why and ask before switching methods.

Direct official installer

macOS or Linux

Download the installer to a unique temporary file, run it, and remove it afterward:

(p=$(mktemp) && trap 'rm -f "$p"' EXIT && curl -fsSL https://sneat.ai/install/get-cli -o "$p" && sh "$p")

The installer supports SNEAT_INSTALL_DIR to override the default $HOME/.local/bin destination and SNEAT_VERSION to pin a release tag such as v0.8.0.

Windows PowerShell

Download the installer to a unique temporary file, run it, and remove it afterward:

$p=Join-Path $env:TEMP ("sneat-"+[guid]::NewGuid()+".ps1"); try { irm https://sneat.ai/install/get-cli.ps1 -OutFile $p -EA Stop; & $p } finally { Remove-Item $p -EA SilentlyContinue }

The installer supports SNEAT_INSTALL_DIR to override the default %LOCALAPPDATA%\Sneat\bin destination and SNEAT_VERSION to pin a release tag such as v0.8.0. Current Windows releases support amd64.

Verification

After installation or update:

  1. Ensure the installation directory is on PATH for the current shell, following the installer’s printed instruction if necessary.
  2. Run sneat --version and report the exact version.
  3. Run sneat --help and confirm it exits successfully.
  4. Report the selected method, executable path, version, and verification result. Do not report success from download or copy output alone.

The direct installers are published at install.sh and install.ps1. The bootstrap scripts themselves are trusted from sneat.app; they then download assets from the official Sneat.app CLI releases and verify them against each release’s SHA-256 checksum manifest.
